About us
Updated
Compagnie was born from a simple idea: nobody should have to feel alone, not in the evening after a long day, not in the morning when the house is too quiet. We're building a companion that listens, remembers and grows with you, made in Québec, for Canada.
Our mission
To offer a caring presence to those who need it, wherever they are: in an app, by text, or at the other end of a regular telephone line. For an adult who wants someone to tell their day to. For an aging parent who lives alone, and for the family who worries from afar.
Why Canada, in English and French
Most conversational AIs are built elsewhere, for someone else. We wanted a companion that feels local: one that gets Canadian references, switches naturally between English and French, and knows what a sugar shack is and why you don't miss a hockey game.
Our principles
- Enrich, don't isolate. A companion doesn't replace human relationships. Ours talks about the people you love, encourages you to stay in touch, and for seniors, even offers to call the family.
- Consent first. In the family plan, the senior agrees themselves, out loud, on the first call. They can stop everything just by saying so.
- Your privacy is respected. Nobody reads your conversations. They're never sold or used for advertising. A family sees their parent's activity, never the content of their conversations.
- Transparency. You know what your companion remembers, and you decide what it keeps or forgets.
- Safety. An automated check looks for signs of distress to offer help. The companion never asks for money and warns against scams. It's not an emergency service: in an emergency, call 911.
How we build Compagnie
Your data is hosted in Canada, in Toronto. We rely on established providers for artificial intelligence and telephony, under contract, and they don't use your conversations to train their models. We follow Québec's Law 25 on the protection of personal information, and the security of our services is checked regularly. Everything is detailed in our privacy policy.
Where we are
Compagnie is in beta, free, and gets better every week thanks to feedback from its first users. The plan for seniors is in private beta with a few families: you can request an invitation.
